Cave of the Swallows

I just can't seem to comprehend the magnitude of this natural wonder. How is there a hole in the earth that is 1400 feet deep?  Think about that number for a second. Or look at it this way - If you jumped into this thing you would be falling for 12 seconds before something rapidly decelerates you. Count that out loud. See what I'm saying?  The Grand Canyon I can understand. A gigantic crater is explainable. But this, I don't know. Maybe it's just me. When something gets under my skin like this the only solution is to go there. I am anxiously awaiting the day that this page is an adventure documentation, instead of an item on a wish list.
