A tandem skydive involves two people attached together and surviving a freefall sharing one parachute. I do quite a few of these with non-skydivers. You would think that with all of the other wild jumps I have done that these would get boring. That is the furthest thing from the truth. They are actually one of the more fun types of skydives I do. The reason is simple. I get to be a necessary part of somebody else's first experience with this incredible sport. It brings me back to the feeling I had on my very first jump, each and every time. Every person I take on a tandem jump reacts differently, and it is always something to look forward to. It can be pure entertainment. After landing, most people just run around like fools for about 10 minutes, yelling all sorts of weird stuff. Then they get on the cell phone and call everybody they know. Then there are those who just stand there in a trance and say they couldn't breathe up there. I reassure them there was plenty of air and they used a lot of it. Then there was this girl that won a tandem jump in an MTV contest in Cancun. That was a strange one I had never experienced before. She had a video camera strapped to her hand, and she videoed herself the entire time in freefall, perfectly. When we landed, she just walked away from me without saying a word, and I never saw her again. Her video made it on national television though. Check out this really nice photo of that jump.

Anybody reading this that is considering trying a skydive should stop thinking about it and just go do it. A tandem is the way to go. You just show up, pay your money ($150 - $200), take twenty minutes to get geared up, and go. Simpler than Disneyland and one hell of a kick ass rush. It has changed many peoples' lives, mine especially. If this page inspires you to go for it, e-mail me when you get back. I know it will be a great message.
